Updates for December

Wednesday December 1, 2010

Current time is 10:07 PM, eating organic chips and a granola bar. Several hours earlier I lifted for the second time this week. It was the usual 26 lb repeats mixed in with crunches. Followed the work out with a glass of water and Greek Organic yogurt. I was planning to have the vegetarian day today, but since I ate chicken for dinner, Thursday will be the day.

Sunday December 5, 2010
Current time is 11:22 AM woke up at 8 this morning to watch Superman. Also let the cat out. The plan for my physical activity today is to play basketball at 4. I was planning to play Frday morning, but set the alarm for PM instead of AM. Showed up very close to 4 PM at the church and it was very crowded with well over twenty people. I only got two games in, and conditioning is definitely something to work on.

Finals week begins. Since I took care of my Health final last Friday I only have two left to worry about, Video and Geography. The current time is 2:39, going to grab a quick bite to eat and get ready to lift. On another academic note ....

Yesterday was my veg. day. Breakfast was a banana and 2 Aunt Jemima waffles. Lunch I had granola broken into a strawberry/banana yogurt. And dinner was a bag of popcorn and several slices of toast topped with peanut butter. Not exactly how I wanted to go with the items I ate, but I had to save the organic pizza for Friday where I plan to involve organic foods in every meal.

Woke up at 5:15 to play ball today. I got dressed and was on the road by 5:45 to make it right at 6. First game went pretty well, had one bucket and we wound up winning. Paul didn't play so great making only one shot which was the game winner. Game two I had the first basket of the game .. a drive where I was fouled but made the shot anyway. Then we started to get down pretty big. I swished a three to cut the deficit to 16-10. They scored on the next two possessions to win the game. Since my team lost, we had to shoot free throws to see who'd stay on for the next game (3rd game) I missed my free throw and had to sit out. Last game of the day was a straight up battle had an assist, couple of steals a 3 pointer and the game winning steal + lay up to finish the day (2-1 on the day)

Friday December 17, 2010
Just got back from morning b-ball. It was a pretty good day on both accounts because I played well and won all 4 games. The first game I scored the first basket of the game and on a drive later to finish with four points. Second Game all I remember scoring wise was on a lay up ... we were down early and most of the game, but rallied back to win. Third game seemed to go easier, I scored very early on a drive got a steal and another lay up. On another play ran the floor well to finish with yet another lay in. 6 points in that game and a 3rd win. After that game, Mike and Dave both left so we had to switch the teams up and add two new players to ours.

The last game we play is usually to 35 and this was no different. Final score was 35-33 our team. I believe I finished with 6 points in that game, but only vividly remember scoring twice.

Woke up at 5:25 for b-ball this morning. First game I didn't play all that great and we lost. Since our team lost we had to shoot free throws to see who'd play in the second game. I made my free throw and got to play game 2. For the second game Tom and a D-1 girl player joined our team and we won. I finished with a respectable 4 points but probably could of had a couple more

Behavior change for November

Thursday November 4, 2010
I did a light lifting and ab workout with the 26 lbs. Friday I woke up at 5:10 AM to play b-ball, we only played two games which was kind of a bummer. Lunch was a PB sand and organic chips with a granola bar. Dinner was a frozen Tombstone pizza with a side salad.

Current time is 11:48 AM, yesterday I ran, it was the usual loop totaling in three miles for the day. Planning to do a late night around 11 PM.

Wednesday November 10, 2010
I got in a 23 minute lifting workout on Monday, today will be another lift day. Usually when I come home first thing I do is nap, but instead I left the house at 4:30 PM to shoot around at the outdoor half court. I stayed till 5:15 shooting baskets.

Friday November 12, 2010
Woke up at 5:15 AM and did some light lifting, followed by 4 games of b-ball at the church. Thursday was my vegetarian day for breakfast I combined Cheerios and Kashi Go Lean lunch was a PB sand and flaxseed organic chips. For dinner I had rice and black beans.

Saturday November 13, 2010
Meet friends at 5:30 for b-ball. Three came so it was perfect numbers for 2v2. Lost the first game, won the second (I was accidentally tripped in game 1) one kid was so tired from the games that we had to resort to playing 21. We continued playing and finished just before dark.

I lifted tonight with the 26 lbs but for breakfast I combined Cheerios with not just Go Lean but another variety of Kashi cereal, Honey Sunshine. Lunch was the usual PB sand, granola bar but grapes as well. Dinner wound up being butter nut squash soup and black beans.

Was a run day, I wound up doing the loop 2 times, the first time around I clocked in at 11:41 and the second one was much worse because of cramping. I would definitely like to revisit running the 1.6 loop for time when my running shape improves.

Sunday November 21, 2010
Still sore from the run yesterday, went out at 3 to my outdoor court to play ball about an hour later or so two kids joined in. Eventually we decided to play 2 on 1 me vs them. I let them win the first two games and then won the next 5 games.

Behavior change for October

Thursday and Friday I went without meat. Waffles were for breakfast, I didn't really have a lunch though and for dinner was an omelet. Friday I ate waffles a PB sandwich and a four cheese California Pizza Kitchen.

Tuesday October 12, 2010
Yesterday was a vegetarian day. An egg McMuffin with PB was for breakfast, lunch was two bags of organic chips and four slices of cheese pizza. I ate the rest of the pizza for dinner. The past couple week I noticed how I've gradually been getting used to eating vegetarian and take on the challenge. Sometimes I enjoy eating vegetarian so much that I will go consecutive days, and I plan to do it again today. Current time is 9:37 AM, today's breakfast was a banana + strawberry yogurt topped with banana slices, raspberries and 2% milk. Lunch was a toasted PB sandwich and dinner was an organic tomato basil pizza. I lifted (20 lbs) later that night.

Another vegetarian day, this time breakfast was a Rice Chex/Kashi Go lean cereal combo and English Muffin with PB. Lunch I had several granola bars and a PB sandwich. Dinner was plain pasta, brown rice and an omelet. Thursday I ate Aunt Jemima pancakes lunch was PB sandwich and half a banana. Dinner we had the eggplant mozzarella dish again but this time with tri color pasta. Friday I ate the usual PB sand (abbreviation of sandwich) and dinner was left overs of the eggplant pasta dish. At 5 pm on Friday I biked over to my outdoor court and played a best of seven series which I won 4 games to 2.

I did a light track work out yesterday, it consisted of a mile warm up followed by two semi hard 400s and a semi hard 400 which ended up being 62 seconds. I then cooled down by running 2 laps to cool down. Reference for those who don't know, an outdoor track is usually 400 meters.

Current time is 11 AM Yesterday's lunch and dinner was cheese slices of Papa John's pizza.

At school and the current time is 2 minutes before 3 PM. I'll probably be at school until 6 because of my class ending so late meaning the chance of being able to run when I get home is unlikely. So I'll have to make tonight a lifting day instead.

The current time is 3:37 PM I got an offer and took advantage of that. Yesterday I did some light lifting (1 set) at 4:30 in the morning and went to play b-ball at 5:30 AM. I played four games and had 2-3 steals in every game and 2 blocks in one game, my team only won the first game, so that's kind of a bummer. Saturday I did some lifting (20 lbs) and then at 5:30 PM I played four 1 on one games, I won the first two games, lost one then won the last game by a score of 15-10.

Played four games of b-ball this morning and went 2-2. I had the game winning shot in the last game. Later that day I also played some b-ball at school. Yesterday was the vegetarian day for breakfast I had Aunt Jemima pancakes with a side of strawberries, lunch was a PB sand and the organic tortilla chips and dinner was a spinach dried tomato topped white pizza. Sunday was a good 30 min lifting workout and my last day using the 20 lbs, the next month I'll move up to 26s.

Behavior change for September

Tuesday September 7, 2010
The current time is 11:34 AM, last week I began my Health + wellness goals. Last Tuesday I ran 3.2 miles and clocked in a 5:19 mile. I used Wednesday as a lifting day (20 lb repeats) Thursday was another running day as well as a vegetarian day and I used Friday as another lifting day. Ran at 5:30 today and clocked a 5:21 mile.

Thursday September 9, 2010
Yesterday was my vegetarian day for the week. I had Aunt Jemima waffles for breakfast a Peanut butter sandwich (from now on peanut butter will be abbreviated PB) for lunch and broccoli soup for dinner. Since I don't usually eat vegetarian, I find it a bit tough to get into the habit. I lifted (20 lb repeats) later that night.

Current time is 8:53 AM and on the bus to school. I did wake up at 5AM to play basketball at the Church and played 4 games.

Tuesday September 14, 2010
Ran yesterday but I probably need to make some adjusting in my schedule. Maybe switch up my running route and try running with music. Besides the route changing, I'll adjust my first goal to get my mile time under 5:20. I lifted today at 6:45 PM (still 20lb repeats) as well as stomach crunches.

Current time is 12:13 PM, Note to self: running in the morning is a miserable experience. I find waking up early for b-ball to be much more enjoyable. As for the run today, I started out too fast and it went downhill from there. Listening to the music while running did help though, but I think the colder weather negatively effected me. Additionally my feet really bothered me, so I'm tempted to repeat the early run next week with different shoes since the ones I wore today could be breaking down.

I played and won 3 one on one games of basketball today. Yesterday I lifted, played basketball (b-ball) at 5 AM and went without meat. Breakfast is usually the easiest meal to avoid meat as I had Banana and straberry slices with pancakes. Lunch was a PB sandwitch and blue organic chips. At 5pm I had PB on a bagel and diner was a frozen spinach and artichoke California Pizza Kitchen.

Monday September 20, 2010
On the bus, current time is 8:36 AM, I was home by 4 PM, lifted at 5:10 (20 lbs) and I cooled down with stretching.

Wednesday September 22, 2010
Current time is just before 11 AM, yesterday was a vegetarian day. It consisted of frozen waffles, banana slices and strawberries for breakfast. Lunch was the usual PB sandwich and organic chips and for dinner I had two plain slices of cheese pizza. Lifted weights (20 lbs) later that night. Thursday was another dreadful morning run and Friday contained two sessions of b-ball one in the AM and the other in the afternoon at the outdoor half court.

Monday was my vegetarian day, breakfast and lunch were the usual waffles and fruit combo along with PB and organic chips but for dinner we had an eggplant pasta topped with mozerella cheese. Except for the eggplant I really enjoyed the dish. Lifted at 5:30 PM Today and Friday was b-ball at 6 AM.

Back into Running

Recently I've gotten back into running. Using mapmyrun.com I plotted a two lap 3.2 mile loop and for the past three weeks have ran that loop, with a strong emphasis on how my mile time would turn out. I would run the first lab relatively easy, at a 7 minute mile or slower then run the second lap strictly for time to see The first run I did was quite tough to get through and left me very sore the next four days.

The second run was a bit better, my endurance wasn't as bad and I clocked in a 6:24 mile time. I was a bit disappointed though as I faded coming into the home stretch

Today though on the second mile I ran a time of 5:31, which is significantly faster and I felt really good. Still need to work on pacing though but my endurance has certainly improved from where it previously was as the start of all these runs.

starting next month I plan to move into two weekly runs.
